Initial Grade Placement

Each student’s placement will be determined by…
Their age
Previous school records
A parent’s recommendation (if the student has been home schooled)

Adjustments will be made if evidence presents itself that it would be in the student’s best interest to be placed in a different grade level.

Assessments

Grades will not be issued at the elementary level. Teachers will gather evidence from a variety of sources, employing multiple ways to access the student’s knowledge. This information will be shared with parents on the student’s progress reports throughout the year.

Promotion

Students will demonstrate minimum levels of performance in order to be promoted to the next grade level.
