Due to the weather forecast for this weekend (high of 43° on Saturday with a good chance of rain) we have decided to cancel the spring picnic. We have no plans of rescheduling, as the busy end of the year calendar does not seem to allow any available times. We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause.

Ms. Linik named “Teacher of the Quarter”

Mrs. Gabriela Linik was recently named the “Teacher of the Quarter” at the December professional development. Linik was chosen by the management team for her persistence in promoting and exposing students to foreign language. She is highly involved with the Ohio Foreign Language Association. She also hosted the first-ever VCS student teacher. Mrs. Linik teaches Spanish and has been with VCS for two years. Congratulations, Mrs. Linik. Keep up the great work!

Orton-Gillingham program available to VCS students

According to the U.S. Department of Education, dyslexia accounts for 85% of all learning disabilities. It is a lifelong disability that is inherited and not caused by parenting style or behavior. Reading, writing and spelling are extremely difficult for those with dyslexia.

VCS strives to serve the needs of each and every one of our students, many of which struggle with dyslexia.

The Orton-Gillingham method of instruction was introduced in the 1930s to help tutor individuals with dyslexia, but has been found to be beneficial to all learners, especially those struggling with reading and spelling.

Yearbook theme announced: Best of Both Worlds!

We are very excited to announce the 2011-2012 yearbook theme:Best of Both Worlds! This year, we will have two separate yearbooks, one for high school and one for elementary and middle school. Each book will be 40 pages of full color and will cost $15. The yearbooks will be shipped directly to your home in the summer of 2012. Order by June 1!
