How will I know what to do when I get started?

Online orientations help new students get acquainted with VCS Ohio. Students will learn how to find their way around and get started in their classes. If you are unable to attend live, you will be able to watch the recorded sessions at a later time. You will receive more specific information about these sessions once you are enrolled. Also, your teachers will help you succeed, so feel free to ask questions as often as needed.

How much interaction do students have with their teachers?

The short answer is, as much as they want and need. Our teachers are accessible through toll-free phone numbers, e-mail and online through programs such as Elluminate. The level of interaction may vary based on the student’s needs, but the bottom line is, our teachers are available and willing to communicate with students and parents frequently.

How do students get social interaction?

There are a variety of social opportunities available, both in-person and online. Events include:

• School-wide picnics in the fall and spring
• Various field trips throughout the year
• Face-to-face educational opportunities at COSI in Columbus and in Dayton
• Online clubs such as book club, photography club, etc.
• Online social forums which allow monitored social interaction among students

Can my child go to college or into the military after graduating from VCS?

Yes! Many students have graduated from VCS and have gone to college or the military. In fact, some students have walked across the stage at graduation in their military uniforms. The guidance department can help students with their future plans. Also, high school students may be able to earn college credit FREE while enrolled at VCS Ohio.
