“I want students to be prepared for life outside of high school. The decisions that students make today define their future.”– Mrs. Prichard, Earn and Learn Program
Earn and Learn Class
Earn a paycheck and earn credit toward graduation! It’s win-win!
Students who work learn many valuable lessons, including responsibility, how to prioritize, how to get along with others, and the value of a dollar. At VCS Ohio, we believe that work experience is important, and students should get credit for it!
Whether the student has a paying job or a volunteer job, they can earn up to two elective credits in a year, or one elective credit per semester.
How it works:
Students will be required to verify their work hours and log their hours weekly. It’s simple!
When students verify 120 hours of employment in the first semester, they earn one elective credit. When they verify 120 hours of employment the second semester, they earn a second elective credit. To verify employment hours, students submit pay stubs or a formal letter documenting volunteer work.
