What is my role as a VCS parent?

Learning online is a student-parent-teacher partnership. Parent involvement increases student success. When parents stay involved in helping with schedules, familiarizing themselves with course material, assignments and grades, and communicating with teachers, students have a higher degree of success.

Parents are encouraged to participate in the design of VCS Ohio’s yearly program by volunteering on the school’s Parent Advisory Committee. In addition, we strongly urge parents to attend parent conferences or Elluminate sessions with their child’s teacher and to participate in other family events offered through the school. To help your child succeed in the program, it is very important that you work closely with your child at home and with the teachers at school.

What’s it like to be a parent of a VCS student?

Here are some comments made by parents on recent surveys:

“We are so thankful for Mrs. Sheridan and VCS. We believe this is the future and the best thing that ever happened for children forced to make a way in a flawed and consistently failing public school system. Again, thank you so much Mrs. Sheridan, and we will read, read, read this summer!”

“I really love this school system. You guys have done wonderful with my son! He was just falling through the cracks in the other school he was in. I was so tired of fighting to get the help he needed and deserved. You guys had it all done before I had to ask for it. Thank you!”

“Mrs. Eberts goes out of her way and reaches out to the children. She is patient and caring and treats each child extra special. I love VCS! The extra resources that Mrs. Eberts posts are great!”
