Are there opportunities for high school students to interact with each other?
Yes. Students are able to interact with other students academically in Elluminate sessions. Students interact with other students in the Student Forums, which allow students to post responses to a number of different topics. Also, students can chat with other students each morning in the Morning Hallway, an Elluminate session where students can talk about anything they wish. Finally, we have several clubs that students can participate in with each other.
Can I catch up if I am behind in credits?
Yes. You are able to work through classes at your own pace. As you complete a class, you can have the option of receiving another class. This allows you to catch up because you are able to complete as many credits as you earn.
Can I graduate early?
It is possible. We have an accelerated policy that you will have to adhere to. We have had several students graduate early.
Do I get to take any classes I want?
You can schedule yourself each year. However, your guidance counselor will review your schedule and make sure you are taking the classes you need to stay on track to graduate. They are available to consult with you when you are making your schedule.
Do I have to work from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day?
No. You are able to complete your work when it is convenient for you. You need to work an average of 25 hours per week and will need to log the hours you work each day. Your classroom will be available to you 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, so you are able to work in the evenings and on the weekend if those hours work best for you.
Will my teacher be available to me live when I am working?
Your teacher will post their weekly hours in their classroom. They will have live Elluminate sessions in their class weekly and will post the hours of these live sessions. The sessions are recorded, so if you aren’t able to attend them live, you can watch them when it is convenient for you. If you would like to request a live, one-on-one session to review a concept, you can contact your teacher through the school message center or their 1-800 number to arrange the session when it is convenient for you.
